The birth of diamonds show that million of years back traces of carbon dioxide that was present beneath the crust of the earth crystallized into diamonds due to extreme heat and pressure. Just like a volcano throws up lave, these diamonds were thrown up to the surface due to the extreme pressure which was caused beneath the crust.
There are not many companies that are into diamond exploration today, most diamonds are the fruit of the earth and so they are controlled by the various governments that they come from. Diamonds besides being used for jewelry have many other uses like buffing hard metals, as cutting tools, video needles and other devices.
Diamonds come in various shapes and sizes. “The Cullinan Diamond” from South Africa is known to be the biggest diamond that exists today, which is followed by “The Kohinoor Diamond” also known as Mountain of Light from India, presently part of the English crown jewels. The third biggest diamond known to man is “The Hope Diamond” which also comes from India that is presently being exhibited at Washington.
Diamond exploration basically involves three practices to achieve a successful exploration. These techniques are sampling of the soil, drilling to extract minerals for investigations and geophysics to determine the ground condition.
